WebJan 5, 2008 · 1,693 Posts. #6 · Jan 3, 2008 (Edited) I took a Cobra Jet fiberglass scoop and bonded it to my steel hood about 6 or 7 years ago and it has held up perfectly with no cracks at all. I basically cut the hole in the hood and then laid down a coat of Gorilla Hair fiberglass all around the opening where the scoop was going to sit. WebJul 5, 2012 · I would look into the bonding adhesive used to attach Corvette panels. It's a lot like bondo. Corvettes have metal reinforcements behind the fiberglass and the bonding adhesive is used to join panel to panel and also panel to metal. Just make sure you're going to bare metal and you rough it up good. I would use 36 grit on a DA sander.
